10,000 (plaster casts) Camilla Stacey 2016

Hello!

I blogged for many years as Made by Milla, it's been 5 years almost since I last updated anything there and i'm feeling a need to blog again. I've been writing in other Social Media accounts and nothing feels right. Spurred on my my friend Jan (the biggest fan of my writing I think) I am going to try blogging again.

Initially i'm going to be sharing some of my old posts from various places because it will be nice to have them all in one space. I'm hoping that perhaps I can develop my writing here, from the ramblings of an exasperated loon into something more coherent.

Chance are i'll do two posts and give up.

This post (and indeed the whole blog) is illustrated  images of part of my work '10,000' that was created in 2016 for Inland Art Festival. With a theme of looking forward to the future, myself and 5 other artists affiliated with Fish Factory Arts Space created new site specific works.

I looked 20 years into the future (future me scares me) and did some rough calculations- I discovered that over the course of the next 20 years I am likely to take 10,000 tablets due to a variety of health conditions I live with.

Each day I take 6 tablets to manage my bipolar mood disorder, 3 tablets to manage diabetes, I take vitamins D and B12 and glucosamine, I have frequent migraines requiring prescription medication, from time to time I have to take antibiotics for chest infections. Ok, so I rounded things up a bit to make a nice number (I added maybe 2000 to cover pain killers (I have arthritis), vitamins and other medication I might be prescribed over the next 20 years).

By making a mould of my medication packets (with the help of Fogou Models) I was able to create plaster casts representing some of the 10,000 tablets I will take. This is an ongoing project and I hope to be able to show it in completion in the future.
